Aged care sector workers campaign for better wages and conditions

Aged care industry workers rallied in support of taking protected industrial action to push for聽better pay and conditions and improved staffing, in Perth on March 24. Protests were also organised by United Workers Union聽(UWU) members in South Australia and Queensland.

UWU said aged care workers are applying to take protected strike action across the three states.聽

The applications for protected action ballots across three states cover more than 13,000 workers in聽aged care providers.

UWU Carolyn Smith said: 鈥淭housands of aged care workers across the country will be voting for the right to take protected strike action if their claims for better pay, better conditions and more time to care are not met.鈥
