Why

Beginning with the victory of President Hugo Chavez in Venezuela at the turn of the 21st century, a wave of progressive governments -- known as the Pink Tide -- swept into office in Latin America. Led by the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela, a number of radical reforms were led by left governments in countries such as Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil and elsewhere.

Following the death of Chavez in 2013, the progressive wave receded for a period. But over recent years, left-wing governments have won or re-gained power in Bolivia, Brazil, Honduras. Other Latin American countries are currently hotly contested.

Hear a panel of speakers assess the current stage of the ''New Pink Tide'' in Latin America, and join in the discussion of this vital topic for LA and the world progressive movement.
