The Sydney Morning Herald between Australia鈥檚 prime minister and China鈥檚 president a 鈥渄iplomatic win鈥. The ABC it was a 鈥渂reakthrough鈥. Sky News even quoted Anthony Albanese聽聽it could 鈥渓ead to positive outcomes for Australia鈥.
PM Albanese and President Xi Jinping met for 32 minutes on November 15, during the G20 Summit in Bali, a day after Xi met United States President Joe Biden for 3 hours.
After years of bellicose anti-China rhetoric from Australian and US elites, the fact that Xi, Biden and Albanese actually met does seem positive.

Nevertheless, even under Democratic Party control, the US remains the world鈥檚 number one rogue state.
It is the world鈥檚 number one backer of apartheid Israel. It refuses to sign international conventions against terrorism, torture and nuclear proliferation and it refuses to sign up to the International Criminal Court.
Australia鈥檚 PM, once considered an 鈥,鈥 is now a 鈥渢rue believer in the American alliance鈥.
You don鈥檛 have to agree with the Australian Financial Review鈥檚 of Albanese鈥檚 political evolution, but he would never have made it to the top job unless he agreed with bipartisan support for the US-Australia military alliance.
