CANBERRA — As part of their "Clean start for cleaners" campaign, members of the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union marched through the streets on July 20 before occupying the lobby of a major building owned by the Deutsche Bank group. Leaflets distributed at the protest action pointed out that DB made a $219.5 million profit last financial year yet was one of the few building owners that refused to support the LHMU's "statement of principles" concerning working hours and pay for contract cleaners, stating that it was "too controversial".
