FREMANTLE — On April 6, 100 people picketed PM John Howard when he visited Fremantle harbour for the launch of the Dufyken's voyage around Australia. The protest, organised by UnionsWA to express opposition to the government's new Work Choices laws, was attended by members of the Maritime Union of Australia and the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union.

The unionists greeted Howard with chants of "Howard, industrial terrorist" and "Walk the plank!" Fremantle Anti-Nuclear Group activists were also present, chanting "No uranium sales to China!".
