Law and order in the wild west

By Stephen Robson

PERTH — The Court government faces another embarrassment for its law and order campaign with the revelation that Tactical Response Group officer Dan Donegan has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm against another police officer. The case is due to be heard on May 11.

The incident is alleged to have happened at the Racquet Club in East Perth on April 8, when Police Constable Richard Luke lost a front tooth.

It has been alleged that Constable Luke was assaulted because he was involved in police investigations into a brawl at the Havana nightclub in Northbridge that involved several TRG officers.

Donegan was suspended without pay following investigations on April 12. He has also been charged with the police disciplinary offence of conduct unbecoming a police officer.
