Thousands of people protested on July鈥 鈥15鈥 鈥琣cross Europe鈥 鈥 鈥琣nd in cities around the world鈥 鈥 鈥琲n solidarity with Greece's struggle against austerity.
The next day,鈥 鈥琈arina Prentoulis,鈥 鈥瑂pokesperson for Syriza in Britain,鈥 told TeleSUR that what was needed was a鈥 鈥溾琾an-European movement鈥 鈥琧apable of confronting the power of European capital and the neoliberal agenda of European leaders.鈥
The Greek parliament voted on July鈥 鈥16鈥 鈥琲n favour of reform measures required by a deal reached between the government of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Greece's creditors.鈥
鈥淚n order to be able to resist their demands,鈥 鈥瑆e need a pan-European movement,鈥 鈥琍rentoulis told TeleSUR,鈥 鈥琣dding this was the鈥 鈥溾琽nly way to resist this immense power鈥 鈥琽f European capital.鈥 鈥琓he SYRIZA government,鈥 鈥琫lected on an anti-austerity platform,鈥 鈥琱as come under heavy criticism for agreeing to a deal involving measures running contrary to the leftist party's ideological outlook.
