Political prisoners benefit a huge success
By Lynda Hansen
BRISBANE — More than 120 people crammed into Che's Lounge on June 28 to support the campaign to free Indonesia's political prisoners. The fundraiser was organised by 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ Weekly and the socialist youth organisation Resistance.
The audience was entertained by an impressive line-up of local bands, including Polish, Battered Fish, Radio Atlas, What's in the Envelope and Relish.
Adam Baker from Resistance explained the importance of building solidarity with the struggles of the Indonesian students for a more just and democratic society. He encouraged young people to speak out on campus and on the streets against the Indonesian government's violent oppression.
