The Wetlands Suite by Sirocco — In a direct broadcast from the Macquarie Marshes in central New South Wales ABC radio presents Sirocco on Saturday September 4, 8 p.m. Officially listed as a wetland of international importance, the Maquarie Marshes lie between Coonamble and Bourke. The marshes are home to river redgum woodlands, reedbeds, spoonbills, cormorants and magpie geese. Maquarie Marshes are an integral part of a filtering system which helps to protects Australia's inland rivers from algae infestation. Sirocco will be performing in a redgum woodland near the wetland reedbeds. ABC radio plans to broadcast part of the performance through Radio Australia in Asia and the Pacific.
