TEL AVIV — Thousands of Israelis rallied on July 22, demanding an end to Israel's war on Lebanon and calling for an immediate ceasefire. According to the Palestinian News Agency, protesters urged Israeli soldiers not to fight in Lebanon, chanting "Listen up, soldier — it's your duty to refuse". Speakers at the demonstration included former Israeli education minister Shulamit Aloni and protesters held placards with messages such as "Jews and Arabs refuse to be enemies" and "war is disaster". Protests also took place in cities across the world, including a march in London that organisers estimated was joined by up to 25,000 people.
