Removal of Kurdish mayors condemned

A rally in Sydney on August 21 protested the Turkish government’s sacking of three elected mayors.

The mayors are members of the Kurdish People’s Democratic Party and were elected on March 31. More than 450 Kurdish activists have also been detained.

Greens MPs Jamie Parker and David Shoebridge spoke, as did Peter Boyle from Socialist Alliance. A message was read out from Socialist Alliance Moreland City Councillor Sue Bolton was also read out.
