BRISBANE — Around 150 people attended the first Brisbane Latin America film festival at the Activist Centre in Fortitude Valley on July 7-9.

A fundraiser for 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ Weekly, the new Australia-Venezuela Solidarity Network, and Australian Solidarity with Latin America, the event showcased films that reflect the Latin American spirit of rebellion and inspiration and the people's brave struggles for justice.

A Latin fiesta on July 8 featuring new band Calor y Canto (heat and song) farewelled six Brisbane participants in the Australian solidarity brigade visiting Venezuela during July and August.
