Why

The Sydney Road Accessible Tram Stops campaign was initiated by Christian Astourian. As a person with disability Christian will be detrimentally impacted by the planned construction of the Sky Rail in Brunswick without real, regular and reliable transport alternatives during the construction period.

There are no accessible stops between Brunswick Road and Bakers Road, Coburg North - a 5.5km stretch. Once the Upfield train line is closed for the Skyrail, there will be NO accessible public transport along the Upfield corridor, a high-density population area, for at least 18 months.

Construction is likely to take place in 2026/2027. Thus there is sufficient time for the Victorian Government to make the tram stops on Sydney Road accessible prior to construction which they were mandated to have completed by December 2022.

The community will be rallying in support of campaign on Saturday 17 June at 11am, meeting at the corner of Wilson Street and Sydney Road Brunswick.

We look forward to meeting you at the rally - our lead chant will be:

Hey Dan, What's your plan?

Christian can't get on the tram!
