Undercover police shown using capsicum spray

Issue

This photo was sent to student anti-war organisation Books Not Bombs by a supporter who attended the April 2 anti-war protest in Sydney. It shows two plain clothes police officers. Shortly after the picture was taken, he indiscriminately sprayed the crowd with pepper spray.

The police have claimed, in contradiction to eyewitness reports, that the undercover cop was backed up against a wall by protesters when he used the pepper spray.

The Legal Observers Project is calling for the results of the police inquiry into the incident to be made public. For more information, or if anyone witnessed the incident, phone Dale Mills on 0407 498 512.
