Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders scored resounding caucus victories in Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Utah and Washington in recent days, . Recent polls show the self-proclaimed socialist has gained significant ground on Democrat establishment favourite Hillary Clinton, who pundits expected to have the nomination all but sewn up by now.
TeleSUR English said Sanders has also overcome a huge deficit in Wisconsin to take a 4 point lead over Clinton among voters for the state's April 5 vote, a Marquette Law School poll found. A Marquette poll taken in October gave Clinton a 53 point lead.
Of those polled, 49.2% said they will support Sanders in the primary, while 44.9% will choose the former secretary of state. There are 96 delegates at stake.
Sanders needs to win almost 57% of the delegates available in the remaining primaries to have a shot at the nomination.
