Vigil for 'death of democracy' in Australia as foreign minister Bishop visits Timor-Leste

On July 29, activists from theÌýMovement Against the Occupation of the Timor Sea (Movimento Kontra Okupasun Tasi Timor,ÌýMKOTT) held an overnight vigil for the "Death of democracy in Australia" outside Hotel Timor, in Dili, where Australian foreign minister Julie Bishop is staying during her official visit to Timor-Leste.
Earlier in the evening, MKOTT activist Tomas Frietas told 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ Weekly, MKOTT activists also turned up at a dinner party Bishop was given at the Australian ambasador's residence in Pantai Kelapa. They distributedÌýflyers condemning the Australian government's buggng of Timorese PM and cabinet offices in 2004 during critical negotiations over the maritime boundary between Timor-LesteÌýand Australia;Ìýand condemning the prosecution of whistleblowing Australian spy "Witness K" and his lawyer Bernard Collaery.
Meanwhile, more and more Timorese are using social media to express their solidarity with Witness K and Collaery.
