Human rights and solidarity groups have condemned the brutal torture of a West Papuan man by Indonesian troops in Yahukimo, in West Papua鈥檚 highlands, and have reaffirmed their calls for the United Nations Human Rights Commission to be allowed to visit Papua, reports Susan Price.

It identified a global phenomenon of overcrowding, prolonged isolation and high numbers of pre-trial 鈥 all key issues for Australian custodial detainees.
