Wael Khalil from the Egyptian Anti-Globalisation Group remains in pre-trial detention after he was arrested at an April 27 protest in support of the independence of the judiciary. Khalil has been actively involved in many grassroots campaigns against imperialism and oppression, including solidarity with the Palestinian people, and he is a founding member of the Popular Committee for Change. Hundreds of other activists who demonstrated in April and May in support of pro-reform judges facing disciplinary hearings for exposing electoral fraud are also still being detained. Many of those being held indefinitely without trial face losing their jobs and students have been prevented from attending final exams. Send protest faxes to the prosecutor-general's office at + 202 577 4716. Send letters of support to Khalil and the other activists to: Wael Khalil, Mahkoum Prison, Tora, Cairo, Egypt.
