Young Gomeroi leaders led a passionate protest in Sydney on December 3 in opposition to Santos’ plan to drill 850 coal seam gas wells on their Country in north-west New South Wales.

Speakers demanded Santos “frack off” from their Country, and said federal and state ministers must engage in proper consultation. They also called for the end of cultural heritage laws that allow for such disastrous projects to be given the go-ahead.

The protest was part of a national day of action. Protests were organised in Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne.

The day of action was hosted by Gamilaraay Next Generation, Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance and Fighting in Solidarity Towards Treaties.
