History made as US Supreme Court legalises marriage equality

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on June 26 that same-sex couples had the right to marry under the Constitution. Same-sex marriage will now be legalised in all 50 states.

Supporters of marriage equality celebrated the decision across the country, including in Washington, outside of the Supreme Court building, and in New York, in front of the Stonewall Inn, the iconic site of the 1969 Stonewall riots, which are credited for sparking the gay rights movement in the United States.
