A protest was held outside Brisbane's Immigration Detention Centre on February 8 to highlight the inadequate medical treatment and other care being given to refugees brought to Australia from Manus Island and Nauru.
During the action, refugees inside expressed their appreciation to those protesting outside.
The demands of the protest were: stop the cruelty; release and treat medical evacuees; bring Priya, Nades and family back to Biloela; close offshore processing; and bring them here.
Tamil refugees Priya and Nades, along with their two Australian-born daughters have been detained on Christmas Island for more than five months. The family had been living in Biloela, Queensland, for four years until there home was raided by police and Border Force in March 2018.
The protest was organised by the Refugee Action Collective.Â
