More than 200 people rallied for LGBTIQ rights in Brisbane on June 25 in the face of threats by the Labor government to bring back a version of the former Coalition government鈥檚 religious discrimination bill.
The international swimming federations聽ban on trans women in elite sport was challenged. 鈥淒o you think this will stop at elite sports?鈥 one speaker asked. 鈥淒o you think this will stop at sport?鈥
Speakers also highlighted the United States Supreme Court鈥檚 decision to overturn the Roe v Wade ruling, thereby withdrawing constitutional abortion rights.
Speakers noted that the far right鈥檚 attacks on the rights of trans people is a mobilising call to launch attacks on a much broader range of human rights.
