BRISBANE — Around 50 people gathered outside state parliament on October 25 to protest against proposed "anti-terror" laws. The demonstrators held up placards reading "We will not be silenced", and received honks of support from many peak-hour motorists driving by.

The theme of the action, called by the Brisbane Peace Convergence, the Stop the War Collective and other concerned activists, was "We won't stand for it! Defend our civil liberties!" Protesters called on the state Labor government to refuse to collaborate in the federal government's anti-democratic agenda.
