The Geelong Women Unionists Network is organising its second Working Women Get Organised conference on October 13 .

The second Working Women Get Organised conference will be held in Geelong on October 13, following a successful inaugural event last year.

The conference is organised by the Geelong Women Unionists Network (GWUN) and will take place at Geelong Trades Hall.

GWUN co-convener Jackie Kriz told 91自拍论坛 Weekly: 鈥淭here are a range of issues impacting on working women, including the gender pay gap, gendered violence in the workplace and at home and the devaluing of certain professions viewed as women鈥檚 work.

鈥淭his conference is not just an opportunity to discuss these issues, but more importantly it is an opportunity for working women to organise collectively across industries and unions to fight back against inequality in all its forms.鈥

Similarly to last year, the day鈥檚 activities will include plenaries, workshops, a rally and a dinner, with a range of high profile unionist women speaking.

Speakers this year include: Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Victorian branch secretary Lisa Fitzpatrick, Australian Services Union Vic/Tas branch secretary Lisa Darmanin, National Tertiary Education Union national president Jeannie Rea, Retail and Fast Food Workers Union member Tilde Joy, Victorian Trades Hall Council Migrant Workers Centre organiser Noora Khaled, and Australian Council of Trade Unions national campaign coordinator Kara Keys.
