Thousands marched in Gadi/Sydney on January 28 against Israel鈥檚 genocide in Gaza for the 16th week in a row, reports Peter Boyle.
The chant 鈥淪hame, shame [foreign minister] Penny Wong! Shame, shame [PM Anthony] Albanese!鈥 hit the mark just days after the Labor government suspended its contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), the main source of international aid to besieged Gaza.
Hazem al Sultan, a Palestinian from Gaza who was at the march with his daughter, told 91自拍论坛 that he was grateful for all the people who have kept marching 鈥渇or what is right鈥. 鈥淚t makes us human,鈥 he said.
As many as 1000 people gathered in front of South Australia's Parliament House聽in Kaurna Yerta/Adelaide for the latest fortnightly protest in solidarity with Gaza on the same day.
The rally was addressed by representatives from Amnesty International, the political party SA Best and Australian Friends of Palestine.
Following the Invasion Day rally, where solidarity between First Nations people聽and Palestinians was on full display, 1000 people rallied in Boorloo/Perth on January 28 to demand an end to Israel鈥檚 genocide in Gaza, Alex Salon reports.
Speakers called for a ceasefire, in line with the recent International Court of Justice ruling.
Susan Price reports from Kombumerri/Gold Coast that about 120 people rallied and marched for Palestine in Surfers Paradise on January 28. Representatives of the anti-Zionist Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities, a Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance member and other local activists addressed the rally.
A petition was launched calling on the Gold Coast City Council to withdraw its sister city agreement with the Israeli resort town of Netanya until there is a permanent ceasefire and Israel abides by international law. Sign the petition at .
