Bruce Springsteen
Veteran rocker Bruce Springsteen made waves when he announced on his website on April 8 that he was cancelling a show in North Carolina in protest at a new bigoted law. Ringo Starr also cancelled a June show in North Carolina over what is often called the 鈥渂athroom鈥 law 鈥 a new law that restricts which bathrooms trans people can use as well as restricting LGBTI rights to sue over discrimination.

A recent documentary on veteran US rocker Bruce Springsteen asked fans to describe their hero in three words.
The responses, compiled in the film Springsteen & I, were fairly predictable: "Badass, sensitive, perfect"; "Hope, energy, power鈥; 鈥淓arnest, inspiring, intense鈥 and so on.
The non-Springsteen fans reading this could probably think of a few far less kind words. But if I were to choose three, they would be: "Open to interpretation."
The Gaslight Anthem must be sick of the Springsteen references by now. Ever since bursting into international consciousness a few years back, there鈥檚 been no shortage of critics willing to draw the connections between them and the Boss.
