About 20 people attended a 鈥淪traight Lives Matter鈥 rally organised by the far-right Party for Freedom in a Sydney park on September 23.

By contrast, about 10,000 people took part in Brisbane鈥檚 Pride march on the same day and 30,000 attended Sydney鈥檚 鈥淪ay Yes鈥 rally on September 9.

A stage had been set up for Nick Folkes to address the anticipated throng, but the crowd was sparse, massively outnumbered by the 60 police assigned to keep order.

In the morning, three fascists, United Patriots Front leader Blair Cottrell, the Party for Freedom鈥檚 Neil Erikson and supporter Christopher Shortis, were all found guilty of inciting serious contempt of Muslims.

In the evening, nine protesters from Party of Freedom, armed with megaphones and clutching signs reading "Love it or leave it", stormed the Yarra Council meeting to oppose its decision to stop referring to January 26 as Australia Day and to cease holding any citizenship ceremonies on that day.

The racists were well and truly outnumbered in Blacktown on June 4 when the community turned out to counter a protest by a far right, racist grouplet who call themselves "Party for Freedom". Despite torrential rain, about 100 anti-racism protesters confronted the 12 Nazis, who called for the deportation of 鈥渧iolent African and Muslim gangs鈥 and the reinstatement of the White Australia policy.
A proposal for a refugee hub at Callan Park has won the support of Leichhardt Council. Leichhardt Council decided on December 8 to write to the state and federal governments to request funding for the establishment of a Refugee Welcome Centre in Callan Park. Leichardt Mayor Darcy Byrne said: 鈥淏y offering a place in our own backyard to the orphans and widows fleeing Syria and elsewhere, we can put our good intentions into action.鈥
