Afghan-Australians call for peace, asylum

A passionate crowd of 1000 mostly Afghan-Australians and mostly young people marched to Parliament House on August 14 calling for peace in Afghanistan.

They chanted 鈥淓nd the proxy war鈥, 鈥淪top killing children鈥, 鈥淪top killing women鈥, 鈥淒on鈥檛 support terrorists鈥 together with 鈥淲e want peace, we want peace.鈥

Activists called for all Afghan refugees to be given permanent residence. Many want Australia鈥檚 intake to be increase dramatically, including of those waiting in Indonesia, and those now fleeing the Taliban.
