In a world of Donald Trump, climate change and the threat of World War III, we need a laugh and quick — before it is too late.
So 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ Weekly has put together what should be an electrifyingly funny evening in Sydney on September 22. It even features a couple of well-known, if not exactly well-loved names with Donald Trump and Tony Abbott making an appearance on stage (via the impersonation skills of Jonas Holt)
Opening with a progressive choir, it features a great line up taking aim at hypocrisy, injustice, racism and the absurdity of a system threatening us all.
Holt will be joined by Amanda Gray, Suren Jayemanne, Carlo Sands, Annaliese Constable, Bec Charlwood and Katherine Thomas.
Suren Jayemanne is critically acclaimed, young, brown, and all round brilliant. He has appeared on Tonightly with Tom Ballard and ABC’s Comedy Up Late. He is also fresh from filming a stand up special for ABC2's Comedy Next Gen series.
Amanda Gray is an outrageous stand-up comedian who knows no limits. She is a perennial club favourite at the Comedy Store in Sydney. With her one part deadpan two parts brutally sharp brand of comedy, she’s an artist who never fails to surprise with her audacity and wit.
Carlo Sands is a comic writer and performed has performed as part of The (un)Australian comedy team at several Sydney Comedy Festivals and performed two solo shows. He is an editor of The (un)Australian satirical site and writes the Carlo's Corner column for 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ Weekly.Â
Annaliese Constable takes aim at her trials and tribulations in the crazy mental health system. Annaliese is renowned for self-deprecating and tragic comedic works, and is well versed in treading the fine line between vulnerability and hilarity.
Heavily involved in the Sydney theatre scene for many years, Katherine Thomas has recently transitioned into comedy with her queer, relatable and boisterous charm.
The 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ Weekly comedy night is hosted at Leichhardt Town Hall for the fourth year running. Tickets are $12 concession, $22 for low wage and $30 for high wage. You can also buy a solidarity ticket for $50 to help us keep this paper coming out. A table of 10 can be booked for a special price of $200.
